CHELSEA STILL IN THE RACE TO SIGN GUARDIOLA

After recent reports that former Barcelona coach, Pep Guardiola, is on the verge of signing a 3-year contract with Manchester City. Daily Star have reported that Chelsea are very much in the running for the Bayern Munich coach. According to the report, Chelsea owner, Roman Abrahmovich is an ardent admirer of the Catalan and is ready to give up anything to see Guardiola take charge of the Blues when his contract with Bayern expires by the end of the season.

The report also claims that the Roman has been encouraged by the willingness of Guardiola's representatives to listen to his offers. The 42-year old is expected to move to the Premier League after his contract expires in Germany. A lot of English sides have been linked with Guardiola after he publicly declared that he won't be extending his contract at Bayern once it expires in the summer.

Manchester City, Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal have all been linked with the Spaniard, who recently fired up speculations in an interview where he stated that he is willing to move to England, "I have an opportunity to work in England- I'm at the right age, and I feel it is the right move for me". Guardiola is expected to sign a three-year contract at his next destination.

According to the report, a source close to Guardiola also spoke with Daily Star, " City think they have got him, but Chelsea are very much in the running". The source further disclosed, "He is leaving it out there and definitely hasn't made up his mind".Another thing that might work in Chelsea's favour is the desire of Guardiola's wife to move to London rather than Manchester.

Daily Star also reports that Guardiola isn't cool with the Stamford Bridge job as he is trying to avoid comparisons with former Chelsea Portuguese coach, Jose Mourinho. The pair endured fierce rivalry at Spain while the latter was Madrid coach.
