Nine ‘oil thieves’ caught with 300,000 litres of oil in Rivers

  • The suspects were being held on suspicion of illegal bunkering of petroleum product without license.

The suspects
Nine suspected oil thieves have landed in trouble for allegedly conveying about 300,000 litres of products, suspected to be Automotive Gas Oil (AGO).
The suspects were arrested by the Nigerian Navy Forward Operating Base Bonny, Rivers State and handed over to EFCC for further investigation and possible prosecution.
Their names are given as: Tony Edumesaro, Olu Gbenga Obebe, Lucky Oshogbon, Erete Moses, Stephen Olu Peters, Raphael Olu Peters, Gillis Ibinabo, Ikechi Nwanyanwu and Ernest Iyalla.
The suspects, caught aboard ab MT Lady Swithin vessel along Calabar offshore, were being held on suspicion of illegal bunkering of petroleum product without license.
