‘My Career Isn’t Based On Winning A Grammy’– Femi Kuti

  • According to Femi Kuti, he has never thought of winning any awards.

Femi Kuti in a recent interview spoke about being nominated for a Grammy. The afrobeat legend has been nominated for a Grammy Award four times in the world music category in 2003, 2010, 2012 and 2013.
When asked if he wanted to win a Grammy, Femi Kuti said that he believes that his career is not based on winning a Grammy. He believes that if it were, he ‘would have won one by now.’
He continued by saying that the music he learnt and his music today is based on fighting for ‘electricity, good education, injustice, corruption …’ He however believes in using his music “as a platform to fight for the under-privileged”.
According to Femi Kuti, he has never thought of winning any awards.
