Kanu Nwankwo Is My Idol – Atletico Madrid Player Heaps Praises On Super Eagles Legend

Atletico Madrid and Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey has wished Nigeria and other African countries participating in the 2018 World Cup in Russia well.
The defensive midfielder also confessed his love for the Super Eagles captain, Mikel Obi while at the same time revealing that former Eagles captain, Nwankwo Kanu is his idol.
He spoke with Complete Sports, saying, “I’m a huge admirer of Mikel Obi. I like the way he keeps things very simple on the pitch and makes it seem so simple and easy to do but Nwankwo Kanu is my idol. He’s the best midfielder I’ve ever seen play football.
“He was a genius.”
Partey, who was in the Atletico Madrid team that defeated Nigeria 3-2 in Tuesday’s GOtv Max Cup friendly international in Uyo, also lamented Ghana’s absence from the tournament.
“It was unfortunate that Ghana will not be at the World Cup. We tried our best but wewere not good enough. That’s behind us now. We will look forward to the future. I congratulate the teams going to the World Cup.
“They are good enough to qualify so we all should support them because they will be flying the flag of Africa,” he said.
