Juventus Plan To Erect Cristiano Ronaldo Statues So Fans Can Take Selfies

Italian football club Juventus plan to erect Cristiano Ronaldo statues around Turin – as the city goes crazy for the new headline signing.

The club hopes that it will help fans connect with the Portuguese superstar, who is set to complete a £99million transfer to Juve, earning himself £500,000 a week.

The former Real Madrid ace’s ‘Ronaldo 7’ shirts have been selling like hotcakes and even Juve have been stunned at the popularity of the former Manchester United man – and the economic kick-back.

And they are hoping to trump the infamous sculptures of the Portuguese unveiled on his home island of Madeira, with the first one showing the forward standing in his pre-free kick pose.

But the second, a bust on show at Madeira Airport, which was re-named after him, was panned on social media.

The bizarre work of art showed the 33-year-old’s well-proportioned face almost comically off kilter and with a bizarre grin – before it was eventually replaced.

Juventus’ marketing team hope the statues dotted around the city will be good for tourism in the city as they bid to turn it into a footballing Disneyland.

Casts have been made of the statues and they should be unveiled during the autumn.

But no doubt they will become targets for the Old Lady’s cross-town rivals Torino, with Juventus becoming magnets for envy within their home country, following their seven consecutive Scudetto victories.

Ronaldo has been undergoing a medical at the Allianz Stadium, greeting fans and signing autographs ahead of his big unveiling.
