Mourinho Reportedly Tells Pogba He Will Not Captain Manchester United Again (See Why)

The plot in the Jose Mourinho-Paul Pogba saga continues to thicken as the Manchester United manager reportedly told his star Frenchman he would never captain the side again.

Mourinho was reportedly angered by Pogba’s post-match comments on United’s 1-1 draw with newly promoted Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The World Cup winner suggested the team needed to “attack attack attack”, especially when playing at Old Trafford if they are to mount any serious challenge for the title this season.

It seems Pogba’s comments acted as the last straw for Mourinho who reportedly told him in front of other team mates during a training session that he would be stripped off captain duties.

In his pre-match press conference before an Carabao cup tie against second-tier Wolves, Mourinho strongly suggested Pogba was not improving both in and out of the pitch despite heavy talking-to from the manager.

“The Wolves game was an important lesson; a lesson that I repeat week after week after week, a lesson that some boys are not learning,” Mourinho said as quoted by BBC.

On Monday, September 24, Pogba, who is an ardent Twitter user, seemed to suggest his comments on the Wolves game were taken out of proportion by the media.

He was wearing the armband as recently as a week ago when United began their Champions League campaign with an emphatic victory against Swiss side Young Boyz.

Having returned to Old Trafford in 2016 for a then world record fee of £89m,Pogba has struggled to fully reciprocate his form that saw him nearly win the best player award several times at Juventus.

Mino Raiola who is the agent of Paul Pogba is said to have assured Barcelona that they have the chance to sign his client in January 2019.
