The Confederation of African Football, CAF, executive committee has disclosed that they will hold a meeting on January 9 to choose new hosts for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, after stripping Cameroon of hosting right, CSN reports.
Recall that CAF earlier this month stripped Cameroon of AFCON hosting right.
The continental body stripped Cameroon of the hosting right because of concerns about the country’s security and infrastructure.
CAF is in search of a new venue for the tournament and countries have until 14 December by 2200GMT to submit official bids to host the 24-team tournament.
Meanwhile, Danny Jordaan, the President of South African Football Association, SAFA, had disclosed that CAF asked South Africa to host the competition.
